1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or accessing Unwritten Chronicles ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Unwritten Chronicles, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use this Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
  • Your use of the Service complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction

We reserve the right to terminate accounts where we have reason to believe the age requirement has not been met.

3. Accounts

3a. Registration

You must provide a valid email address and create a username to register. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

3b. Account Accuracy

You agree to provide accurate and complete information at registration and to keep it up to date. We may suspend or terminate accounts where information is found to be false or misleading.

3c. One Account Per Person

Each person may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions — including free trial credit limits — is prohibited and may result in permanent termination of all associated accounts.

4. Credits and Payments

4a. Credit System

Unwritten Chronicles uses a credit-based system. Credits are purchased in bundles and consumed as you interact with the Service. Credits have no cash value and are non-refundable except as required by law or as described in Section 4d.

4b. Pricing

Credit bundle prices are displayed at the time of purchase. We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice. Price changes do not affect credits already purchased.

4c. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We do not store your payment card information. All transactions are in US dollars.

4d. Refunds

All credit purchases are final. We do not offer refunds except in cases of duplicate charges, technical errors preventing Service access, or as required by applicable law. Refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of purchase.

4e. Free Trial Credits

New accounts may receive a one-time allocation of free credits. Free credits expire 30 days after issuance. Free trial credits are limited to one allocation per person, per email address. Abuse of the free trial system — including creating multiple accounts — is prohibited.

5. Content and Conduct

5a. Content Tiers

The Service offers three content tiers: Tame, Standard, and Mature. All tiers are available to verified adult users. You are responsible for selecting the content tier appropriate to your preferences and ensuring no minors have access to your account.

5b. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Generate content that is illegal under applicable law
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
  • Attempt to circumvent content moderation systems
  • Share account credentials with minors
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service's AI systems, prompts, or outputs at scale
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent
  • Introduce malware, bots, or automated scripts to interact with the Service

5c. User-Generated Content

Campaign names, character names, and player-provided text inputs constitute user-generated content. You retain ownership of content you create. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to process and store it for the purpose of providing the Service.

5d. AI-Generated Content

Narrative content, images, and game responses generated by the Service's AI are produced algorithmically. We do not guarantee accuracy, appropriateness, or fitness for any particular purpose of AI-generated content. AI-generated content is provided for entertainment purposes only.

6. Multiplayer

The Service supports multiplayer campaigns of up to 8 players. The player who creates a campaign ("the Host") is responsible for:

  • Inviting players and managing campaign access
  • Ensuring all invited players have accepted these Terms
  • The conduct of their campaign within the Service

We are not responsible for disputes between players in a shared campaign.

7. Intellectual Property

7a. Our Property

All software, AI systems, prompts, interfaces, branding, and content comprising the Service are the property of Unwritten Chronicles, LLC or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership rights in the Service.

7b. Third-Party Services

The Service uses Anthropic's Claude API, Stability AI, and Voyage AI. Use of the Service is also subject to those providers' applicable terms and policies.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. AI-GENERATED CONTENT IS NOT GUARANTEED TO BE ACCURATE, APPROPRIATE, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PURPOSE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, Unwritten Chronicles, LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 90 DAYS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, without prior notice. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, unused credits are forfeited unless otherwise required by law.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Wyoming, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
